Over the past 5 years the Downtown Development District (DDD) has reached a number of milestones. With the help of partners, stakeholders, business owners, residents, and City-Parish organizations - including the Mayor and Metro Council, Downtown has seen the growth of new residential units and a formation of the Downtown (CBD) Civic Association in addition to a host of new offices, restaurants and businesses. There has also been a surge of hotels with 3 new openings and over 300 rooms since 2011. Since 2012, ribbon cuttings for 3 public green spaces have contributed to establishing the 'Central Green,' concept aimed at linking our civic & cultural attractions. The beloved North Boulevard Town Square is one of these 'Central Green' spaces and now plays host to over 200 events per year. Last but not least is the improvement of services downtown. Our residents, visitors, and businesses now have a full service grocery store, pharmacy and urgent care facility! See the video above highlighting some of these catalytic projects that will keep the downtown vision alive for years to come and turn up the volume for fun!
DDD is on the ballot! On Saturday October 24th the DDD is on the ballot for downtown area voters seeking renewal.
