2009 Downtown Festival of Lights!
Join us on Friday, December 4th, 2009 from 4PM - 9PM under downtown's historic oaks to commemorate Baton Rouge's oldest holiday tradition. Experience the magic beneath the snow at the 35-foot Christmas tree, where Third Street meets North Boulevard. Enjoy free ice skating and play in six (6) tons of real snow at the Snow Village. Visit Santa's Gift Shoppe or listen to holiday music during an evening of visual, culinary, and performing arts. Don't miss an illuminated Miracle on Third Street and visit the many holiday open houses. 2009 Reindeer Run
The Reindeer Run is a family friendly event held in conjunction with the Downtown Festival of Lights. Please bring a NEW unwrapped toy to early packet pickup or on race day to be entered in a raffle for a $75 gift certificate to Varsity Sports. Please no Weapon toys. Michael Foster Project @ 600 Main
If you've never heard The Michael Foster Project and you love New Orleans brass jazz, you're in for a real treat. Michael Foster, the leader of this multi-genre group, started playing music at a young age. He attended Southern University where he was a member of the "Human Jukebox" (S.U. Marching Band). His band-mates, many of them also music teachers and band directors, originally came together at Southern. Catch them at 600 Main this Saturday, December 5.

Manship Theatre presents
Holiday Films
The Manship Theatre presents an afternoon of holiday entertainment for the whole family on December 5 beginning at 3 p.m. The Manship will show two beloved holiday films: "The Polar Express" (3PM) and "A Christmas Story" (7:30PM). The bar will be open, selling hot cocoa and other holiday treats in addition to its usual selection.

EBR Parish Schools Talented Music Program
Join the Louisiana State Museum for a special performance from students of the East Baton Rouge Parish Schools Talented Music Program, who will present a free concert of the works of Brahms, Bach and contemporary composers, John Lennon and Paul McCartney. The strings students from McKinley High School and Baton Rouge High School are under the direction of Dr. Yong Pan and David Hinson. LSU violin professor Lin He will be guest soloist for Vivaldi's "Winter." This program is presented in connection with the special exhibit, "Pride of Place: Stories from Old South Baton Rouge." Free and open to the public.

A Book About Death Remake
A Book about Death - REMAKE is a local re-interpretation of the collaborative, globally produced exhibition A Book about Death that was first presented this September at the Emily Harvey Foundation in New York. LSU Digital Art students set out to join this project and remake the exhibition in downtown Baton Rouge. The result, A Book about Death - REMAKE, is a 'pop-up' exhibition, taking place in a non-traditional venue in the unfinished retail space and lobby of the former Coca-Cola bottling plant at 200 Government Street.
