A MESSAGE FROM THE DDD
Coming soon!
Town Square Phase II

The Downtown Development District and the City of Baton Rouge are excited to showcase the nearly complete North Boulevard Town Square Phase II (NBTS). Due to the enormous success of Phase I, the DDD and City-Parish were fortunate to receive multiple funding awards for the planning, design, and implementation of Phase II.

Here's what you can look forward to with NBTS Phase II:

  • Expanding the footprint of North Boulevard Town Square by two blocks.
  • Curbless/raised intersections on North Boulevard at Third Street, Fourth Street, and other intersections.
  • Expanded sidewalk/public space areas at Third Street and North Boulevard.
  • Additional transit shelter/small stage at St Louis and North Boulevard.
  • St. Phillip Street Pedestrian Promenade adjacent to Old State Capitol and the 'Crest' sculpture linking the River Center/Repentance Park to Town Square.
  • Grand promenade on North Boulevard from the Old State Capitol to River Road linking River Road/LASM to Town Square.
  • Additional 39 on-street parking spaces.
  • Additional benches/seating on the Boulevard between Fourth St and Fifth Street.
  • Future visitor's kiosk at 4th Street/St. Ferdinand and North Boulevard.
  • Boulevard improvement connecting Town Square to the Downtown Greenway entrance.
  • Bike share station and bicycle roadway markings that will link the Downtown Greenway to the River Road Multi-Use Path.

Phase II is designed by a joint venture of Brown + Danos Land Design and Joseph Furr Design Studio. Constructed by Gulf State Contractors, the $2.46 million project is funded by a federal transportation grant.

Stay tuned for a ribbon cutting celebration date later this summer!
