Federal and State Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits have transformed Baton Rouge's city center and returned several properties back to commerce, creating an economically vibrant downtown. Downtown has over 85 projects that have utilized the federal and/or state historic tax credits to renovate historical buildings and return them to commerce, preventing their demolition.
During this special legislative session, HB 4 proposes to extend the state historic tax credit to January 1, 2028. This extension is critical to the continued redevelopment of historic buildings and community revitalization in Baton Rouge and across Louisiana.
