Downtown is excited about the Cary Saurage Community Arts Center which is scheduled to open Summer 2021 at 233 St. Ferdinand Street in the heart of the Central Green!
The Central Green links civic and cultural attractions with a series of public greenspaces. The new Arts Center joins several cultural attractions and assets located within the Central Green including the new River Center Library, River Center Theatre (currently under renovation), Raising Cane's River Center, City Hall, the Old State Capitol, LASM, and the Shaw Center for the Arts.
The future home of the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge will afford 12,000 square feet of workspace, and triple the Arts Council's current venue capacity. The iconic triangular-shaped building will house the offices of the Arts Council, as well as the Shell Gallery art and exhibition space, a blackbox studio, sound/recording studio, the Turner/Fischer rooftop terrace, a kiln room, collaborative studio art workspace, multiple conference and meeting rooms.
