Sound of Summer Concert Series
The Sounds of Summer concert series is part of a parish-wide celebration of the 200th anniversary of the creation of East Baton Rouge Parish. Residents have expressed their appreciation for events such as Sunday in The Park and Live After Five, and now have the opportunity to extend the live music experience into the summer. Friday concerts are from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Galvez Plaza. This week is Mia Borders on June 18 and Big Sam's Funky Nation next week on June 25.

Juneteenth Festival
Juneteenth commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement. It is a day marked with celebrations, guest speakers, picnics and family gatherings. It is a time for reflection and rejoicing. Activities will be educational based, informative and entertaining for the entire family. All activities will be multi cultural and everyone is encouraged to come out and participate. Enjoy music, dancing, speakers, children's exhibits, and more.

This Weekend at the River Center
This weekend the River Center presents Anthony Hamilton Live in Concert Friday, June 18 @ 8PM featuring special guest comedians JJ Williamson and Ced Delaney and a surprise opening act. Also, this Saturday is the Red Stick Roller Derby and Cat Fight Fever at 6:30PM. Come on out and cheer for our girls!

Tomato Me Crazy
Join us this Saturday for the Annual Tomato Me Crazy celebration at the Markets! We will feature all things tomato and farmers will bring a variety of these delicious red beauties for shoppers. The Fresh from the Market cooking show will feature chefs from the Louisiana Culinary Institute demonstrating summer recipes using Louisiana tomatoes found at the Red Stick Farmers Market. The show starts at 10 AM inside the North Street seating area to Main Street Market. Come enjoy a hot breakfast inside and then shop the bounty of our Louisiana summer harvest including blueberries, sweet corn, eggplant, peppers, onions, peaches and much more.

Playmakers presents: Sleeping Beauty at Manship Theatre
Sleeping Beauty is written by Charles Way with music by Chad Henry. This musical retelling keeps the fairy tale appeal but tells it with a modern touch of humor and style. In the classic battle between good and evil, a terrible curse is put on a young princess, who falls into a hundred-year sleep on her sixteenth birthday. The only one left awake is a prince who must conquer the forces of evil and restore happiness to the kingdom with true love's kiss. Sleeping Beauty is recommended for ages four and older.

A Wonderland Tea Party and Style Show at LASM
Bring your favorite young companion and join Alice and the Mad Hatter for a special tea party at LASM on Saturday, June 19! There will be two seatings-1:00 PM and at 3:30 PM. Enjoy tea, finger sandwiches, and more while viewing the latest styles from local childrens' boutiques! Also, this Friday is the Star Party on the Levee. The whole family can celebrate the beginning of summer by viewing the moon, the ringed planet Saturn, star clusters, and more through telescopes set up on the levee. Free and open to the public!
