Getting around Downtown with CATS and LSU Tiger Trails

Public transportation is a great option to travel into and out of Downtown Baton Rouge. A total of 6 public transportation routes service Downtown including four regular Capitol Area Transit routes, the Capitol Park Trolley, and the Downtown/LSU Vet School Route of LSU Tiger Transit.

Due to current construction, some routes have been slightly adjusted. For your convenience, we have prepared maps for the numerous Downtown CATS routes with bus stop locations and other useful information to help make public transportation a more convenient and reliable choice when traveling Downtown.

CATS Routes that service Downtown
Capitol Park Trolley, *Free- Route 16
Downtown/Thomas Delpit- Route 14
Downtown Express- Route 15
Gardere- Route 46
Highland- Route 47

If you'll need to transfer to a second bus to get where you're going, ask your driver for a transfer slip when you board the bus, which costs 25¢. If your trip requires a third bus, you can get another transfer on the second bus for an additional 25¢.

Bus Fares
Adults: $1.75
Children under 5: Free

Senior citizens, people with disabilities, Medicare recipients, and students through high school ride for 35¢. Passes for numerous durations are also available for purchase from CATS.

Tiger Trails Transit

In addition to CATS, The LSU Tiger Trails Transit System provides a safe, convenient, and free bus service for LSU students, faculty, staff, and visitors, both on and off campus. A Downtown/LSU Vet School Route runs Monday-Friday 7AM - 5:30PM approximately every 20-30 minutes. With a total of 6 Downtown stops, the route helps to strengthen Downtown's relationship and connection with LSU. The Downtown stops are
Third Street-North Boulevard, Third Street-Florida Boulevard, Third Street-North Street, State Capitol, Shaw Center, Pastime.

Tiger Trails transfers with CATS
For city-wide transportation, transfers with the Capital Area Transit System (CATS) are free with a valid LSU ID card.
