61st Annual Cortana Kiwanis Christmas Parade
The Annual Baton Rouge Christmas Parade has rolled through Downtown every year since 1950. It's a holiday tradition in Baton Rouge and serves as the official welcome parade for Santa Claus. Every year tens of thousands of people line the parade route and thousands more watch the parade on television. Arts Market for the Holidays
The Baton Rouge Arts Market normally takes place every first Saturday of the month from 8:00AM until 12:00 noon at 5th and Main Streets in Downtown Baton Rouge. The Arts Market is running throughout the month of December and there is only two chances left. Shop for Christmas with over 60 artists from Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and Florida who will present original works of art in a variety of mediums including, pottery, jewelry, woodwork, textiles, photographs, glass, paintings, sculpture, hand-made soaps and so much more. The Arts Market regularly features free children's art activities from 9:00AM until 12:00 noon at the Arts Market's Kids Booth. The Baton Rouge Arts Market is held in conjunction with the weekly Red Stick Farmers Market and the Main Street Market.

Walking Tours at the Capitol Park Museum
The Capitol Park Museum is hosting a downtown Baton Rouge Walking Tour. A museum curator is leading the tour which will highlight landmarks in Capitol Park and the historic Spanish Town neighborhood. Walks may be cancelled for inclement weather. Patrons are advised to dress comfortably for the 45 minute tour. All walks are free and open to the public.

A Blue Holiday at LSU MOA
The LSU Museum of Art is proud to announce an encore book signing by Louisiana favorite George Rodrigue. The fun begins with a book reading by Wendy Rodrigue, followed by a book signing with George. Children can participate in hands-on art, creating holiday ornaments and a Blue Dog mask. View the spectacular holiday exhibition "Under the Big Top," their unique display of circus-themed toys and fine art from the museum's permanent collection, and turn-of-the-century photos and circus posters on loan from a private collector.

Pearl Harbor Day Ceremonies
Join the USS KIDD on Pearl Harbor Day to observe the 70th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Approximately 2,400 Americans were killed on that tragic morning. Among those killed were forty-five Louisianans and Rear Admiral Isaac C. Kidd, after whom the USS KIDD is named. Prior to the KIDD's ceremony, the United States Coast Guard will hold a memorial service in the Louisiana Memorial Plaza at 10:45AM to honor and remember the seventeen crewmen lost aboard the Coast Guard buoy tender USCGC WHITE ALDER (WLM-541). Both ceremonies are free and open to the public.

Christmas in the Atrium
More than 100,000 Christmas lights decorate the Atrium while Santa's Elves help children create Christmas cards for our troops. Holiday videos and music play continuously on the dazzling Christmas stage. Visitors can join Mrs. Claus in her "Cookie Kitchen" for free cookies and lemonade and also take free photos with Santa on his throne as he hears Christmas wishes (bring your camera). There will be a laser and light spectacular choreographed to the music of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Price of admission for the Santa's Workshop is; adult $10, children $5, (2 and under free), Santa's Workshop & Laser Show for adults $15, children $8 (2 and under free)

Saturday at the Market
Enjoy fresh food, local art, music and more this Saturday downtown at the Markets. It is the place to be for unique, locally made holiday gifts this season. Red Stick Farmers and Main Street Market vendors will offer a great selection of artisan food and handmade gift items as well as plants and greenery to decorate for the holidays. Enjoy music by The John Gray Jazz Trio and the East Baton Rouge Parish Talented Musicians throughout the morning. The Fresh from the Market cooking demonstration will feature Pat Higgins of The Chimes Restaurant & Bar on Highland Road. Stop inside the North Street entrance to Main Street Market at 10AM to watch the demo and sample the completed dish. The Red Stick Farmers Market takes place every Saturday from 8AM-12PM at Fifth and Main Streets.
