Lunchtime Concert Series with Young Band Nation
Baton Rouge Music Studios is a school of music that helps tweens and teens discover their inner rock stars. This summer, BRMS has partnered with the Downtown Development District to hold a summer series that will feature teen singer/songwriters and bands from BRMS in the new North Boulevard Town Square. The concerts will be held a the Town Lawn Stage every Friday in June at 12PM. BRMS has also extended an invitation to young bands in the area who are not students of BRMS in order to give them the opportunity to perform in public. LAF presents: Island Fever
Live After Five in Downtown Baton Rouge is the capital city's premier FREE live music event, hosted by the Downtown Business Association. This week LAF presents Island Fever. The Island Fever band started with a bonding between Murray and Bert way back in the late seventies during lunch break jam sessions. Since then the Island Fever Band has become Louisiana's number one Beach Party/Jimmy Buffett tribute band.There is a bonding between the guys that can only be molded through years of playing, drinking and generally having fun together.

Manship Theatre
Stop by the Manship Theatre this weekend for two great events. June marks the 30th anniversary of Star Trek II, so the Manship Theatre is screening The Wrath of Kahn. Come out Saturday and celebrate the science fiction themed pre-show in your best science fiction costumes. There will also be several pre-show events and door prizes. On Sunday, Simply Divine Academy of Dance presents: Dancing on the Bayou. The show is a presentation of Loisiana's Rich culture through dance and music. Ian Webster at Boudreaux & Thibodeaux's
Ian Webster is a musician, music instructor, session player, producer, singer, songwriter out of New Orleans, LA. He currently performs with: After8, Jive Train, Jack Fate, Toby Templet, Johnny Gossip and The Chris LeBlanc band. He also teaches guitar and bass at Zeagler Music and works for a hip hop/pop production company by the name of Divided Souls Inc. Look for Ian Webster to light up the stage at Boudreaux and Thibodeaux's this Thursday night.

Shake Rattle & Roll with V-TONES at Zolia Bistro
As a self-proclaimed group of guys having a blast making music, the V-Tones will perform a rare-intimate show at Zolia. The band is best known for their rocking classic songs from the 60's thru the 90's. The V-Tones will be giving their downtown fans a taste of good times rock and Zolia will clear a dance floor to let the good times roll!

Winbourne at the Roux House
Winbourne was founded in Baton Rouge, LA in June of 2009. Best described as having a Rock / Alternative Rock style, the five Louisiana natives immediately began writing and playing in every popular venue in the city. They have joined forces with other popular local bands such as Jake Smith and have grown out of the city since and recently added South-By-Southwest to their resume.

Dairy Day Market
Red Stick Farmers Market will feature local milk, cheese and butter this first Saturday with sampling from several dairy booths during Dairy Day. Chef Nathan Gresham of Beausoleil Restaurant and Bar will teach shoppers how to incorporate local milk and cheese into summer menus. Join host Chef Celeste Gill at the cooking demonstration from 10AM to 11AM in the North Street seating area of Main Street Market. The Arts Market, the EBR Master Gardeners, kids art activities and face painting will also be featured this first Saturday.

Karmady Yoga: Special Saturday Class
Karmady Yoga is offering a special free yoga class this Saturday morning along with the usual Tuesday afternoon class at North Boulevard Town Square. Whether you are interested in flexibility, strength, stress reduction or balance, this class will help you learn in a non-threatening way. The session will close with an emphasis placed on relaxation and allowing a restoration of the body and mind. Karmady Yoga is held in Town Square every Tuesday at 4:45PM.

LASM's Irene Pennington Planetarium Rare Astronomical Event
Gather on the levee and witness the Transit of Venus, a once in a lifetime astronomical event. The Louisiana Art & Science Museum's Irene Pennington Planetarium is offering a special program in honor of this rare occasion. They will host a transit viewing opportunity using special solar-filtered glasses and provide insight to what transits are and why they occur. You won't get a second chance at this as the next set of transits will not appear for 105 years!
