Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra
The Baton Rouge Symphony open their 64th season with rhythmic propulsions in Millennium Canons by recent Pulitzer Prize-winning modern composer, Kevin Puts. Its rising textures and melodic counterpoint, created through the use of the canon, showcases the orchestra in astounding fashion. The show will be held at the Baton Rouge River Center Theatre.

Explore the dynamic world of chemistry in hands-on Kids' Lab workshops for children ages 6-12 and a parent or caregiver. One adult caregiver is required for every four children, and participants must sign in at least 20 minutes before the workshop. Kids' will love creating fun with chemistry!

Red Stick Farmer's Market
Shoppers can find a combination of late summer and early fall produce at the Red Stick Farmers Market this Saturday including sweet peppers, mustard greens, green onions, okra, late summer squash and melons. Begin your Saturday morning at Main Street Market for a hot breakfast and stay for the Fresh from the Market cooking demonstration at 10AM. Chef Jaime Hernandez of Juban's Restaurant will join Chef Celeste Gill to create a delicious farm fresh recipe. Shoppers are invited to watch the cooking demo and sample Chef Hernandez's dish inside the North Street entrance to Main Street Market.

2012 Tailgating Throwdown Registration
BREADA is now accepting team registrations for the 2nd Annual Tailgating Throwdown, downtown's freshest cook-off. The Tailgating Throwdown will be held in conjunction with the Red Stick Famers Market on the morning of October 20, 2012. Both corporate and individually formed teams are encouraged to enter the cooking competition. Teams must use a minimum of 2 local ingredients from the Red Stick Farmers Market to create their dish and can prepare up to 2 different dishes to be judged in the competition. The entry fee is $100, which includes $20 in Farmers Market tokens that teams receive to purchase their local ingredients from farmers. A panel of judges will determine the best dishes including an award for Best Use of Local Ingredients and the Best Overall Experience. Teams will also serve their dishes to event attendees, who will select the People's Choice Award. Click the icon below to register.
