62nd Annual Cortana Kiwanis Christmas Parade
The Annual Baton Rouge Christmas Parade has rolled through Downtown every year since 1950. It's a holiday tradition in Baton Rouge and serves as the official welcome parade for Santa Claus. Every year tens of thousands of people line the parade route and thousands more watch the parade on television. The Cortana Kiwanis Christmas Parade is the largest and longest running parade in the Greater Baton Rouge Metro Region. Click the road sign icon to view the parade route.

Holiday Movies on the Beacon
Tis the Season! Bring the kids downtown and watch classic holiday movies on the beacon. This week the movie will be "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", Jim Carrey version! Grab some food from one of our many restaurants or pack a picnic to enjoy dinner and a movie in the square. The movie will start immediately after the Christmas parade, approximately at 7PM. Also, keep on the look out for more movies playing on the beacon this holiday season.

Pearl Harbor Day
A memorial service will be held aboard the USS KIDD (DD-661) to honor the memory of those servicemen killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on this date in 1941. Approximately 2,400 Americans were killed on that fateful morning. Among their number were forty-five sons of Louisiana and RADM Isaac C. Kidd, Sr., after whom the USS KIDD is named. The service is open to the public. All interested parties are invited to attend. For more information, contact the USS KIDD at 225-342-1942

Woman's Half Marathon
Woman's Hospital and Gulf Coast Event Group proudly announce the Gulf South's first major running event exclusively for women. Come to Town Square Friday, December 7 for the pre-race event and race packet pick-up. There will be a host of vendors offering wellness and race related items. On Saturday the race course will take runners from downtown Baton Rouge south towards LSU, with the 10K returning north on Nicholson and the half marathon taking runners around the lakes and then returning to loop around the capital area before the finish near the USS Kidd.
